At 10 am, Lecturer and Adjunct Professor in Nanoscience at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Albany, Jim Lloyd will talk about his 1986 re-enactment of Cal Rogers first flight in a Wright Brothers Model EX Pusher biplane in 1911 that became the first aircraft to fly coast-to-coast across the U.S. The "Vin-Fiz" as it was called was so named after its sponsor Armours new grape soft drink, Vin Fiz. Lloyd will talk about his flight in 1986 foloowing Cal Rogers' flight path across the U.S. in a similar Wright biplane. Lloyd's airplane now resides in storage at the Empire State Aerosciences Museum. (Cal Rogers' plane is in the Smithsonian).
